The name “pickleball” is rumored to have been derived from the name of Pritchard’s dog, Pickle, who would chase and return the balls as Pritchard hit them. Pickleball got its start in the retirement community, where it is believed that former Washington Congressman Joel Pritchard invented the game while on his summer vacation. She also continues to provide private lessons for interested students. Neubig has worked for local parks and recreation departments in the past, as well as for the North Haven Health and Racquet Club, before taking the position in Cheshire in the late summer of this year. “The sport itself is becoming much more mainstream now that younger people are playing, and I am so honored to be sharing the sport with Cheshire.” “The pickleball community is a really wonderful group, and I am excited to get more people involved in something I love so much,” Neubig explained.
